New Guide Training Scholarship fund at College of African Wildlife Management(CAWM)

Updated: Nov 29, 2018

November 2018

We are delighted to announce that in collaboration with College of African Wildlife Management (CAWM) and the African Walking Company that we are establishing a new scholarship fund that will pay for porters to complete their training to become licensed guides to work on Kilimanjaro.

From April 2019, to begin with we will be funding 8 places ( 4 women, 4 men), though it is our ambition to increase these year on year.

The College of African Wildlife Management(CAWM) (http://mwekawildlife.ac.tz ) which is based in Moshi, Tanzania will manage the recruitment and selection of awardees and the African Walking Company, one of our corporate partners will be providing camping equipment so that our awardees can camp for free on the site at the college.

The cost of the training for a porter to become a guide is around $360 dollars. At just $30 a month that in our book is pretty good value for money to change a life!

If you would like to be one of the first to sponsor one of these places contact ROB now or make a donation directly via our Virgin Just Giving link.
